At the Works: Ohio Center for History, Art and Technology I had the pleasure to meet with an artist today to help with his upcoming show! You all know I love my job and I love my job at The Works! I was a fan before I went to work there and continue to me, even more so for SOOO many reasons....maybe I'll do a top ten reasons I love working there one day on this blog. For now I just want to talk abou the art that is there and just doesn't get enough appreciation.
PLEASE take the time to stop in the art gallery- please! The exhibit in there now is incredible and it right here in Licking County. Aminah Robinson is a visual historian and her story is beautiful and her creativity deeply inspiring. This show will leave at the end of November- please take the time to come down and let me know you are coming- 614 507 0751- I'll give you the insiders tid-bits! Today I was able to share the inspiration for our hand-out piece with a guest- high light of my day! Actually the highlight was sitting with Wib Mock and preparing for his show which will open Dec 7th! Plan now to attend and pick up some special gifts!!! http://www.attheworks.org/explore/art-galleries.aspx
Art makes my life on Newark-Granville road so much better. My friend- Mary Helen Ferndez Stewart says Art Saves Lives and she is right. Her blog is a great place to visit for happy escape- Mary Helen can be visited in downtown Newark as well- her studio is on 2nd street where the Grill's Deli is- part of the Works complex and worth a visit!! http://maryhelenfernandezstewart.blogspot.com/
I'll sign off for now with a quote that makes me smile and says quite what I was trying to say in today's blog!!
"The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls." Pablo Picasso
