Derby Party 2019: Clare for the Win!

Derby Party 2019 has a special theme- our first high school graduation party blended right into our annual fun! Long ago we made the decision this is how we would do grad parties in our lives on Newark-Granville Road. Clare embraced declaring "I've known the date for four years!"  First Saturday in May 2019:  May 4th!  Yes, dear Clare, may the force or fourth be with you as we prepare to send you off to The College of Wooster! Woo Hoo, we're proud of you and your accomplishments leading to this exciting next chapter.

Details beyond the date:
Time:  4:30 pm start, ends at dark.....The race is usually in the 6 pm hour- 6:50 post time- wow later and later....you'll want to arrive in time to place your bet in the living room!  https://www.kentuckyderby.com  Stay tuned to this site for horses, post exact time, inspiration!  Come when you can, stay as long as able- even at very start or t-t early to say hey before you move on or later on way back to town....there have been years a group is hanging out in the dark.

Dress: Hats are encouraged, theme dress for Clare: royal/navy blue for the Blue Aces or plaid: Wooster's yellow/black/white plaid and I'm just seeing this, a bit of red!! (MacLeod plaid)

New this year:  We'll provide the usuals treats (country ham sandwhiches MD style, cupcakes and cookies- this year by Bella Cakes, chocolate covered strawberries) and Clare's favorites:  Pizza (https://fireduppizza614.com)  Mac n Cheese (thank you Lisa and https://www.facebook.com/EatUpOhio/ and Whit's Custard.  Flavor of the week, chocolate and vanilla- which will disappear first?  Mint Juleps for the grown-ups and a mock-tail amazing bartender Emily George will create to honor our grad.  No band, but a fun DJ to play's Clare's favorites and some of ours.

What else?  Tradition is to have friends bring an appetizer or bite-size dessert to share- if you like to do this, have time- great. If not no worries- we always have plenty of food.  Parking is always a challenge- make sure you are off the road on Fairview.  Bryn Du is good, be careful crossing the road.  St. Eds lot can work too.  Drop off can work, use the red brick house drive to pull back through.  Friends, family and neighbors welcome- invite those new to town and help them meet new folks!  Once invited, always invited- this party has history back to 1992 in Omaha and is always a nice way to connect with great folks.  Looking ahead, 2020 Derby Party Theme: My Money is on Peter!  Get a sense of the event by searching the blog for past pics and wrap-ups....

Regrets only, let us know if you have questions!! We look forward to sharing this extra special day with you!
